Dubai Health Authority sets standards to improve patient care

UNOS International congratulates Dubai Health Authority (DHA) for its launch of the Health Standards for Organ Donation and Transplantation Services in the Emirate of Dubai, which was developed in partnership with UNOS International. The standards signify a pivotal step forward to advance healthcare in Dubai, fostering quality and prioritizing patient safety. By collaborating with UNOS International, DHA is positioned to elevate healthcare in Dubai, setting a new standard for excellence.

DHA’s new, comprehensive regulatory health standards encompass liver, pancreas, heart, lung, and vascularized composite allograft (limb) transplants, as well as living donation standards. Through these standards, DHA strives to improve the efficiency and quality of transplant centers in Dubai and to provide evidence-based care through best practices. This proactive approach reflects DHA’s commitment to fostering innovation and enhancing the quality of organ donation and transplant care for its residents as well as the broader region.

In May 2024, DHA hosted a workshop with key strategic partners and healthcare professionals from the U.S. and United Arab Emirates. The workshop showcased the importance of new health standards, emphasizing DHA’s alignment with existing regulations and international benchmarks.
